Baseball

Darien Little League (DLL) runs the town’s house and travel baseball leagues for kids in kindergarten through age 12. Travel teams begin in 3rd grade. Look for registration beginning in November for the spring season that typically starts after April break and runs through June. Fall baseball and summer leagues are also offered.

Basketball

Darien YMCA Sports organizes Darien’s youth basketball program. In winter, you’ll find house hoops for 3rd through 8th grade girls and boys, a learn to play pee wee league for 1st and 2nd graders and travel teams for 4th through 8th graders. Look for registration through the Darien YMCA beginning in September for the season that runs from December (November for travel) through March.

Field Hockey

Darien Junior Field Hockey (DJFH) runs Darien’s field hockey house and travel programs for girls in 1st through 8th grade. Travel field hockey begins in 5th grade. Look for registration starting in May, with the season beginning in late August and running through October or early November. 

Football

Darien Junior Football League (DJFL) runs Darien’s football program — flag football for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, modified tackle for 3rd and 4th grades and tackle for 5th through 8th grade. Look for registration starting in April with the season running from September through November for flag and mid-August through November for modified and tackle. DJFL also runs a cheerleading program for girls in grades 2 through 5.

Ice Hockey

Darien Youth Hockey Association (DYHA) runs the house and travel hockey programs at Twin Rinks Stamford for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade. Travel hockey begins in 2nd grade. The season runs from mid-October through early March. Look for registration to begin in mid-March.

Lacrosse

Darien Youth Lacrosse (DYLAX) operates Darien’s youth lacrosse program for boys and girls. They offer an improved for 2024 Blue Wave Buddies program for 1st and 2nd graders, house lacrosse for 3rd through 8th graders and travel beginning in 5th grade. Look for registration beginning in November with the season starting in early March, weather permitting.

Squash

Darien Squash offers a junior team for players in 3rd through 8th grade to compete in matches against other FairWest teams and against Darien teammates. You can register at any time during the school year. Most matches and jamborees occur in October through late March.

Soccer

The Darien Soccer Association (DSA) provides Darien’s house and travel soccer program for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade, with travel beginning at age 9. Look for registration for fall soccer to begin in June with the season running from September through early November. DSA also offers a spring program from early April to mid-June with registration starting in January.

Softball
