If your sporty kid is looking for their first job, look no further than the local soccer field or baseball diamond.

Youth Soccer Referees

Do you have a 7th or 8th grader who is interested in earning extra money ($25-$30 per game!)? Bonus: they’ll also develop leadership experience and get some exercise running around on the soccer fields. The Darien Soccer Association is looking for referees for the K-2 House soccer program’s Saturday games in town.

Requirements: Attend one 1.5 hour training session on Saturday, Sept. 7 or Sept. 14 from 9-10:30am or 10:30-12pm (click here to sign up); Referee uniform ($54, can be earned back in 3 games and should last 3-4 seasons); Wrist watch

More info? Email Victor Borges, DSA’s House Ref Coordinator.

Hockey House Referees

The Darien Youth Hockey Association is looking for referees Peewee/U12 or older. Members of DYHA & Ice Cats are used to referee all house games from Mighty Mites to Senior Minors. Refs earn $30 for Mighty Mites, Mite/U8 and Squirt games and $40 for Senior Minor games.

Interested? Visit dyha.com to learn more about becoming a certified referee or email dyhahouserefcoordinator@gmail.com.

Student Baseball Umpires

Students 7th grade and older can attend a training clinic to become a paid umpire for Darien Little League. Umpires start with AAA (3rd grade) games and minor league games with a veteran partner.

Interested? Training clinics are held in the spring.
