How to Register for Darien’s Fall Youth Sports Leagues

Football

Sign up for football through the Darien Junior Football League (DJFL). Choose from flag programs for first through third grade, modified flag for third and fourth grade and tackle for fifth grade through eighth grade. Registration starts in April. Prices increase on June 1 and the main equipment pickup for tackle and modified flag is on June 4, so you want to register by then if possible. Registration officially closes on August 1 with a final equipment pickup on August 11. Preseason practices for tackle and modified start on August 19 and flag football begins in September. The season runs through early- to mid-November.

Field Hockey

Sign up for field hockey through Darien Junior Field Hockey (DJFH). Programs are available for girls in first grade through sixth grade. A clinic for 1st/2nd grade, a house program for 3rd through 8th grades and travel for 5th through 8th grades. The season runs from September though

Register for DJFH fall field hockey here by June 30 to avoid lates fee. Registration closes for 5th-8th grades on June 30, 3rd and 4th grades on August 23 and 1st and 2nd grades on September 7.

Ice Hockey

Sign up for ice hockey through Darien Youth Hockey Association (DYHA) for kids ages 4-14. The youngest players who are just starting out can register for Mini Mites and Mighty Mites. Players new to the program that are past kindergarten or first grade must start by joining the waitlist. The ice hockey season runs from October through March. Travel teams are also offered for second graders and older with tryouts held in the previous March.

Register for DYHA ice hockey here. Registration began on March 15 for Mini Mites and Mighty Mites, April 1 for returning house players and May 15 for new players.

Soccer

Sign up for fall house soccer through the Darien Soccer Association (DSA) for boys in girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. Travel soccer is also available, starting at age 8. Tryouts are held in May for the following fall. The fall season lasts from September through early November.

Cheerleading

Sign up for Darien Junior Cheerleading (DJCL) through DJFL. Girls in grades 2 though 5 can join and will cheer at one home DJFL football game per week with Friday evening practices. The season runs from early September through early to mid November.

Baseball

Sign up for fall house baseball through the Darien Little League (DLL). House teams are offered for kids in first grade through sixth grade. Teams are combined grades – 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th and 5th/6th. The fall season is a lower commitment than the main spring baseball season. It typically lasts for 7 weeks during September and October. Games are played (mostly) on Saturdays and there are no practices.

Softball

Sign up for fall house softball through the Darien Little League (DLL). Like fall baseball, fall softball is offered to first through sixth grades with combined teams for 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, and 5th/6th. This easy, low-commitment season does not have practices and games are held weekend, most often on Saturdays. The season runs in September and October.
